The
Hispanic Fair Credit Association’s (HFCA)
mission is to help all Hispanic consumers –
young and old – become financially literate.
Programs are designed to educate Hispanic consumers
to realize the benefits of responsible money management,
to understand the credit process and to know where
to seek help in getting a loan or if credit problems
occur.
GOALS:
- Provide leadership in Hispanic consumer
credit education.
- Work cooperatively with other state and
national administrative organizations to promote
and advocate Hispanic consumer education.
- Provide networking opportunities for all
members of the Association.
- Provide professional assistance to community
groups, boards of education and other leaders
in related fields of consumer credit education.
- Encourage research for program improvement.
- Initiate research and provide data necessary
to develop educational programs which meet
the
educational needs of the Hispanic community
served by the membership.
- Serve as a source of information to the
Hispanic community on fair credit practices.
- Provide members opportunities for professional
growth activities.
Financial Literacy Initiatives
HFCA Vehicle Financing Initiative provides free
information to help consumers learn about dealership
financing. The Spanish language brochure –
Understanding Vehicle Financing – produced
by AFSAEF and the National Automobile Dealers
Association and prepared in cooperation with the
Federal Trade Commission serves as a guide to
evaluate one’s own financial situation.
It also provides information about the financing
application process and tips to remember before
visiting the dealership; when visiting the dealership
and after the purchase.
HFCA Mortgage Financing Initiative provides information
to help Hispanic consumers learn about home financing.
The Spanish language brochure – HUD Guide
To Buying A Home – produced by U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development Office of Single
Family Housing serves as a guide to evaluate one’s
own financial situation and walks Hispanic consumers
thru the home buying process. It also provides
information about the financing application process
and tips to remember before buying a home.
Member bylaws
Hispanic Fair Credit Association Bylaws Article
I. Name Section 1. The name of this organization
shall be the Hispanic Fair Credit Association.
Article II. Purpose Section 1. The purposes of
this Association are: (a). To provide a educational,
fraternal and civic improvement association for
those whose business or professional affiliation
or interests are related to the consumer and mortgage
credit industry. (b). To create a forum for the
exchange of experiences and opinions through meetings,
seminars, conferences, and publications. (c).
To Promote the education of credit executives
and their personnel, as well as the education
of the Hispanic public with respect to the wise
use of consumer credit. (d). To gather and disseminate
information concerning pending or inactive legislation
or other matters related to or affecting the extension
of consumer credit. Article III. Membership Section
1. Membership in this Association shall be open
to any individual, firm, or corporation of good
standing and reputation, conducting or supporting
commercial, retail or consumer operation related
to secured or unsecured credit. Section 2. The
approval, suspension, reinstatement or expulsion
of any member is subject to review and approval
by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Article IV. Dues Section 1. The Board of Directors
shall determine the Association activities. Section
2. Any member who owes a monetary obligation to
the Association which is more that sixty (60)
days in arrears shall be reported to the Board
of Directors by the Secretary and such members
shall be liable to expulsion by said Board. |
